MIxed Media : Lindsay Connors

I am a visiting lecturer of Printmaking to Foundation and HND students at West Kent College. I have also been and continue to be involved in a number of printmaking workshops in schools and in my own studio.

I am drawn to the insignificant and overlooked: humble and everyday materials, matter and moments which signify a commonality of cultural experience. These quotidian elements act as emblems that we recognise and identify with, that we think we know and understand. Placed within a different context they take on a new life: sometimes rhyming with, or sparking against each other; sometimes whimsical or weighty with significance. As a multimedia artist, my work is a response to these possibilities, the medium as the most appropriate for each work.

Current work explores the new possibilities within printmaking, and an interest in the monumental qualities of the numerous forms of cardboard boxes.
