Glass : Lesley Ramos

I trained as a lighting designer and assisted at the Cockpit Theatre in London before moving abroad. This experience stirred my interest in the interplay of colour and light and since coming back I have studied glass design for 7 years having recently obtained a diploma in installation glass and vessels. I have also studied various courses such as sand casting and moulding.

My passion lies primarily in the flexibility of the glass material. It can be used 'cold' as in stained glass, 'warm' as in kiln-formed glass and 'hot' as in blown glass.

I enjoy experimenting with texture using metal inclusions and copper and stainless steel mesh and love making practical objects such as splashbacks, clocks and wall-lights which are always one-offs.

My current project is related to the war in Afghanistan.

Work is currently on view at Ely Cathedral, West End House Gallery and in Lewes.
