Eden Valley Festival 'My World' art event 2010

There were a record-breaking 214 entries in the ‘My World’ art competition, organised by Eden Valley Artists (EVA) as part of the Edenbridge Festival fortnight.

The artists set up at 2 locations in the town centre and invited passers by to describe their world using poetry, prose, painting or photography. EVA provided all materials. In addition to those who took part on Saturday, local primary schools also sent in entries.

The entries are now displayed in the windows of 67, High Street, Edenbridge, formerly an antiques showroom. They will remain on display until the end of June. Judging took place on Monday 24th May. The 3 independent judges commented on the high standard of work entered.

The results are as follows:

Malcolm Phipps, from Tunbridge Wells, was the overall winner in the adult section, winning a meal for 2 at the Quality Tandoori Restaurant in Edenbridge.

In the children’s’ section the winners were;
Ryan Parker, from Edenbridge County Primary,
Kolter Neville, from Ide Hill Primary, Poppy Wilters from Chiddingstone Primary, Billy, from Four Elms Primary and
Holly Turner, from Hever Primary School.

The youngest winner was Oliver Vennard aged 3 years.

Sevenoaks District Council has recently awarded funding to support EVA’s window project as part of the community grant scheme.

The Sevenoaks based developers, Regalpoint, the current owners of 67 High Street, have kindly allowed EVA to make use of the empty windows for art-based projects, while the property is awaiting re-development.
